About

About the Company:

Founded in October 2009 by Richard Kane Ferguson and Renee Boucher Ferguson, R. Kane Productions is a development company specializing in producing unique, creator-owned licenses for comics, film, gaming and animation. The company’s mission is to syndicate its fully painted and pen-and-ink sequential art across media outlets.

In a word, we develop beautifully rendered comics and graphic novels for digital and print distribution (Golden Age on iPad? We dream in color).

At the same time we are a digital comics company. R. Kane Productions launched its first weekly digital comic series, Twilight of the Gods, in March 2011.

Every two weeks we release an 8 to 10-page digital Comic Serial for the great price of just $1. At the end of each seven-issue run, we combine the serials into a gorgeous digital graphic novel, available for download for about $4.

Current and Upcoming titles by lead artist Richard Kane Ferguson include:

  • Twilight of the Gods, digital comic series and graphic novel
  • Golden Age: The Book of Xell, digital comic series and graphic novel launching late 2011
  • Pulp Heroes, digital comic series and graphic novel coming in 2012
  • Offerings, a previously released print series launching as a digital series in 2012
  • Animus, a fulminating project restlessly awaiting acknowledgement

With a nod to our digital brethren, we hope to see Golden Age – and all our content – available across key digital platforms such as Comixology and Graphic.ly, as the handful of major digital platform providers out there take on more creator-owned materials.

About the Artist: Richard Kane Ferguson has worked extensively in comics, gaming and film. Clients include: Wizards of the Coast; White Wolf Games; Marvel Comics; Acclaim, Sanctuary Press, Cry for Dawn and a host of other comic and gaming companies. As a lead artist on Magic: The Gathering, Richard’s iconic characters have seen worldwide distribution in a number of formats, including print (card sets, calendars, posters), video games, promotional films, packaging and a plethora of other promotional materials, from lunch boxes to coffee mugs. Some of Richard’s characters have even been featured as life-sized 3-D sculptures in Wizards of the Coast’s interactive gaming entertainment center initially launched in Seattle.

Over the last few years Richard has spent a good deal of his free time developing his signature work, Golden Age: The Book of Xell. An immersive original world, Golden Age is a multi-layered, character and concept driven environment that brings to life an Age of Wonder and Terror, of Wild Magic and Mystery, populated by all the strange creatures of myth and legend.

The first 50-page edition of Golden Age saw print in Heavy Metal magazine (August 2007); the second 50-page edition of Golden Age will see the light of day in the latter half of 2011.

The entire Golden Age body of work will be released on rkaneproductions.com as a series of 8-page Comic Serials – weekly digital downloadable comic books – with the combined works collected in a graphic novel or two, in digital and print formats.

About the Communications Strategist: Renee Boucher Ferguson has spent her career writing and communicating, in one form or another. She covered all things enterprise technology for more than a decade, first as a Senior Writer with Ziff Davis Entertainment – one of the world’s largest IT and gaming publishers – and then as a Senior Research Analyst with Kennedy Consulting, Research & Advisory.

Prior to reporting on technology – and breaking a few notable stories – Renee spent two years at more.com, a health and beauty aids ecommerce site launched in the heart of San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, where she managed online promotions, email campaigns and office renovations.

Before her stint in B2C marketing – it was the height of the dot.com craze, after all – Renee spent five years as a Photojournalist, starting out at a small weekly newspaper in her hometown of San Diego, California, moving to a bigger paper in Northfield, Minnesota where Jesse James and his gang still live on, and ending at a couple dailies in New York where Renee worked primarily as a features correspondent.

At R. Kane Productions Renee handles all things marketing and communications, including communiqués with customers, press and digital media partners, a burgeoning and ever-changing social media strategy, and Web site development. You can contact Renee with any press, content or customer inquiries at rkaneproductions1@gmail.com.
